Growing Into Your Calling

Dec. 26th, 2007 was the day God healed me of my addictions and gave me the call of marriage ministry.

Looking back, I don’t know if I fully believed the call back then because I almost ran our marriage into the ditch but God knew that was being healed.

Many times people believe that when God calls you to a vision that it has to happen right away. here is the problem with believing that. People will then go 1-2 years of nothing happening and say i guess that was not God’s call and then move on but in reality it was God’s call.

Look at David, it was MANy MANY years from the call to be king until he became king. I am sure some times to himself he doubted that call but he still listened to God and moved forward on that call.

The same happened for Sandy and I, we got the call almost 10 years ago and it looks like everything is falling into place for our marriage ministry as we are writing our marriage book and growing together.

When we got the call, we were NOT ready for the call and didn’t realize we would go 10 years in between. We had to grow into the call and we had to start doing things like we were already living the call. For example, we started reading a lot of marriage books, listening to a lot of marriage sermons and working on communication like there was no tomorrow.

All of that plus more has added to many thousands of hours that we put into our marriage and into study so that now we are ready as we move forward into our calling from God.

Always remember when God calls and when you are living that calling will many times break down into years in between! Don’t give up on the call that God placed on your heart! Don’t worry about when just keep listening to God and keep moving forward and the day will come just like David became King, you will be living your calling too!

I am co-founder of Inspired Marriage. I went through 19 years of addictions until God healed me Dec 26th, 2007. The first 5 years of our marriage was hell because of my addictions. With Sandy's patience, I was able to allow God to work in me and we have been growing spiritually together ever since! Oct 5th, 2023 was 21 years of marriage and it's been an inspired one!
